What is Feline Enrichment?

Feline enrichment is a crucial concept in the world of cat care, focused on enhancing the physical and mental well-being of our feline friends. Cats are natural hunters, and in a boarding setting, they may become bored or stressed without appropriate stimulation. Feline enrichment involves providing a variety of activities, toys, and environmental changes to engage your cat’s senses and instincts.

Enrichment can take many forms, from interactive play with toys and puzzles to creating a stimulating indoor environment. Puzzle feeders, for example, encourage mental engagement and physical activity while feeding. Cat tunnels, shelves, and “treat boxes” give them an opportunity to mimic stalking and predatory behavior in a healthy and safe way.

Incorporating different textures, scents, and sounds into a cat’s environment can also stimulate their senses. Silvervine (similar to catnip), interactive laser toys, and even our fun kitty-sized pool can provide additional layers of enrichment. Furthermore, adding scheduled playtime and social interaction with your cat are essential components of enrichment that we would love to add to your pet’s boarding stay.
